DRUMMERS OF OLD

      Joined the Regt Nov 5th 1945 on Boy`s service, Regmtl number 2670628. 2nd Bn Drums 1946, with old friends such as Pete Horsfal, Nippy Kirk, Gordon Carter,Dave Redstone etc.Discharged 1958. Re-enlisted RMP 1959 until completion of service 1972. Currently living in the Philippines.

I joined the Coldstream Guards as a boy Soldier in 1964, after nearly two and a half years and a restriction of privliges record only second to the great Aussy Austin, I was posted to the 2nd Battalion Corps of Drums, where I stopped untill being demobbed in 1979.

After leaving the Army I became a Constable in the British Transport Police, I was retired from the BTP on health grounds, suffering from an illness that is still prevalent today.

After two years of Hospitals and Doctors I returned to work, as a Porter at Leicester University, I was lucky enough to be promoted on several occassions and finaly became the Head Porter, I was also the President of the local Branch of UNISON. In 1996 I along with a lot of others was made redundent. My next job was as the Chief Controller of a local Security Firm, this lasted for about eighteen months when the firm went bust.

Seeking further employment, I applied for and was succesful in obtaining a Managment possition in one of the largest Cleaning Company's in Europe "MITIE" I managed high value sites each worth in excess of a million pounds a year to my company, and was subsiquently promoted to Account Manager. During my time with MITIE I took a Degree Course at Birmingham University, and gained a 2/2.  I remained with MITIE till a reaccurance of my old illness forced me to take early retierment in 2009.

My interests are; Course fishing, Red Setter Dogs, Corps of Drums and Boozing

Hello I am Colin Gillett (Gigs) I was a 1st Battalion Coldstream drummer joined in 1980.

I now live in Plymouth with my partner and I have 5 children and currently working as a courier and still tickling the skins.:D 

I joined 1st Bn 78 in Fally was in 4sp then the Drums when we came back to England in 1980 until i left in Oct 81. Drum Major then was Dmj Austin realy good bloke.

Living in Leven East Yorks married 1 child  2 g/children (23 &25) interest's are fishing (Carp) and living long enough to be a 100 so i can be kept.
